Happy Cow Yogurt Shop Design by Mindful Design Consulting

Designed to indulge the eye as much as its sweet treats gratify the taste, the Happy Cow Frozen Yogurt shop in Florida is exactly what its name implies – a merry place with both delicious dessert and flavorful decor. Starting with a chromatic palette in which pink reigns and blue cools it down, we created a whimsical space where details play the main decorative role.

Dainty, quaint and playful are a few words that best define the result of our design efforts. To accommodate and incorporate some existing structural elements such as the exposed ceiling, we retained the idea of a slightly industrial vibe, but we mainly pursued that of a modern interior with charming Victorian touches.

We wanted to give the interior an outdoor feel, so we recreated the look of striped, scalloped awnings with canvas canopy stretched above the seating area. We extended the classic stripe pattern to the upholstery of the wall benches, lending them a mid-century diner look, and to the custom-print wallpaper that breaks down the seating area into two sections and continues down the hallway. White square wall panels enhance this mid-century look and give the walls texture and dimension.

Across the room, a dainty white trim borders the counter, in perfect contrast with the dark wood veneer that dresses up its sides. The look is perfectly Victorian, evoking that of delicate lace on heavy dark-stained furniture. These elements bear a subliminal message – the crisp, lacy “tablecloth” thrown over the counter invites thoughts of delicious treats and of happy times around the table.

Beyond the row of round and square tables, the serving area lines up eight self-serve yogurt machines highlighted by a row of recessed lights. The arched tops of the machine enclosures with their gauge-like details, the multicolored square tile and the fun graphics against the pastel blue wall bring in enough detail for the eye to explore while customers choose flavors and weigh options.

Playing on the main theme of the store, a few cowbell-shaped light pendants hang over the counter while different shades of wood bring nature into the mix. All over the walls, quirky pictures of cows in round frames highlighted by spotlights and large graphics of their cartoon versions give the place a humorous and lighthearted feel.

As part of our chromatic scheme, the brown tones ground this playful expansion of pastel colors. A few pendants with brown glass shades remind one of mouth-watering blobs of chocolate.

The store forefront retains this happy, spirited character and does not skimp on details. In addition, we refined our client’s logo idea into one that perfectly matches the energy of the place. Happy Cow is all about a sweet, comfortable home feeling, and each element of its branding strategy reinforces this idea.
