Hey Froyo Store Interior and Branding

Located in a busy shopping center in Sugar Land, Texas, and surrounded by well-known restaurant franchises, Hey!FroYo set out to become a next-gen frozen dessert shop for sweet-treat lovers. Alongside its globally inspired frozen yogurt, the shop offers the stylish Korean bingsu—a shaved-ice dessert as delightful to the eyes as it is to the taste buds—creating the perfect foundation for something special. With ambitions to attract young, hip families and adults looking for a fun, community-minded spot, Hey!FroYo needed a store design that could bring this vision to life.

Following this ambition, we helped Hey!FroYo build a brand that shows off its energetic, fresh, and youthful personality, and an interior that matches the playful vibe of today’s youth culture. To make this happen, we chose a contemporary look—clean lines, unique color choices, and fun details that keep the space lively. The idea was simple: create a place that feels entertaining, active, and social, where people naturally want to hang out and enjoy their treats.

The combination of pale pink and soft seafoam blue-green gives the space a distinctive look that feels sweet, friendly, and invigorating. This palette instantly evokes the coolness of the treats and the flavors of the store’s offerings. Off-white tones in the walls, furniture and accents open up the space and highlight the contrast created by the minimalist color choices. While we kept the palette simple for a clean, inviting, and easy-on-the-eyes effect, we boosted its impact by mixing up textures, playing with how the colors were applied, and adding smaller pops of bolder tones like tulip.

The seating is designed to create dynamic zones throughout the shop, with each option offering a different kind of experience. Communal tables give space for larger groups, while more private areas, separated by refreshing planter dividers, offer a cozier, more intimate vibe. Padded vinyl benches serve as comfy lounge seating where families can relax and linger, and sleek, understated chairs keep the space open for a quick treat and faster turnover.

The furniture is modern and elegant, but it’s the details and accents that really make the space original. The uneven, scalloped backs of the benches bring an architectural rhythm that hints at both dessert scoops and cool mountain landscapes, a motif echoed in the wall graphics at every private table. Together, these elements create an immersive and inviting environment.

The terrazzo floor tiles extend up onto the walls, giving the space a “dressed-up” feel. While terrazzo is perfect for this high-traffic area, the other walls switch things up with different colors and tile shapes, adding extra texture and visual interest.

We designed large graphics that double as a selfie-worthy backdrop, complemented by whimsical cloud-shaped light fixtures for a fun 3D touch. With big windows letting in plenty of natural light, customers can easily snap bright, shareable photos while enjoying their treats.

In a space dominated by cool color tones, wooden accents bring in warmth, familiarity, and a natural touch. We used wood extensively—not just in furniture and wall details, but also in the panels of the service counter. The wooden tones help break up the contrasting color palette, making the space feel more inviting and comfortable. A particularly unique feature is the planters, which serve as both dividers and shelves, where board games can be stored and displayed.

On the other side, the service counter continues the layering of materials—paint, tile, wood, colors, and textures—but in different shapes and forms, like open shelves, light fixtures, quartz countertops, and the yogurt and bingsu wall art. The layout keeps traffic flowing smoothly, giving plenty of room for movement, interaction, and taking in the details of the store.

We love creating interesting ceiling landscapes, and this project was the perfect opportunity—especially since the general layout was rectangular and could have felt uninspiring. What could have been a plain, boxy ceiling instead becomes a feature full of character and quirky details. Here, the ceiling comes alive with soffits edged in painted stripes or paneling, layered lighting using different shapes and types of fixtures, varied paint colors, and zigzagging 3D structures—turning it into a landscape that is fascinating to look at all on its own.

A curious eye will find plenty to explore in the space we created for this next-gen frozen dessert shop. Whether it’s the way similar colors, textures, and materials converse across the space, or the thoughtful details in the furniture, lighting, and fixtures—like pedestal tables that hint at the shape of a frozen yogurt scoop, or colorful graphics that practically beg to be photographed—it’s the little touches that add up to an unconventional space.

Beyond the interior, we also extended the brand design through custom patterns for Hey!FroYo, keeping the fun, playful theme of the company alive across every element.

We also designed primary and secondary logos for Hey!FroYo, using the same bold yet friendly color contrasts to capture the brand’s uplifting vibe and personality.

We kept a minimalist approach for the business and loyalty cards, drawing on one or two design elements from the interior—like the cloud-shaped lighting that evokes an imaginative spirit, or the tiled walls and clean lines of the wall graphics.

Finally, we carried these design elements and brand personality into the less glamorous necessities—paper bags, labels, and yogurt cups. Playful experiential minimalism with a touch of Scandinavian inspiration runs across both these everyday items and the interior of the Hey!FroYo next-gen frozen dessert shop.
