If you have not painted your home for over 6 years, it would be a good idea to freshen up the look. Painting the exterior of your house is not only pleasing esthetically, it protects surfaces from deterioration and helps avoid more costly repairs later. Since I was in a process of selecting new paints for a client I’ve decided to share these new and exciting color combinations with you. I hope these will inspire and motivate you to do something similar with your house exterior paint.
This house needs repainting.
To determine if your house really at the condition of needing new paint check out the surface of your exterior finish. Here are the signs that you will notice: the paint is blistering, cracking, scaling or peeling or the wood or metal is deteriorating.
We came up with 4 different options to fit our clients neighborhood, the style of the building and the wishes of the owners. From here the clients selected option #3 and we followed up with 3 pallets for this particular option. You can see 3 main colors on the pallets below: top color – for the main stucco walls color, middle color – decoration above the windows, bottom color – for the garage doors. (Note: The white paint for trim is not shown on the selections below.)
The first pallet is the original color taken from Option 3. The pallet below is a bit darker in hue. And the last pallet is in bright colors. If you noticed, in pallet 1 we have one color (Exciting Orange) indicated for interior use only. This color can easily be matched for you in a store for your exterior use.
Even if you are using a computerized program to select your paint colors, I always recommend to go outside and to look at your selected paint chips under a sunlight. You would be amazed how different paint colors may look under different lighting!
