We believe the next generation of experiential retail will offer far more than food and drinks. It will offer wonder, curiosity, joy, nostalgia, playfulness, and escape. Customers will not simply order a dessert or a coffee, but choose how they want to feel.
This idea became the foundation of the Pink Cloud Cafe concept, our submission to the inaugural Pink Blob Award founded by Karim Rashid. Rather than asking how to design a beautiful dessert shop, we started with a different question: What if a cafe could transform emotions into something people could order, experience, and take home? What if every element of the space became part of an emotional menu?
Most cafes sell coffee, desserts, and drinks. Pink Cloud Cafe sells something less tangible but no less real: an experience. At Pink Cloud Cafe, every interaction, every ritual, and every design detail contributes to that idea. Rather than being an addition to the product, here the experience itself becomes the product.
Pink Cloud Cafe and the Future of Experiential Design
For the last three decades, Karim Rashid has challenged the status quo of design, carving new paths beyond familiar conventions. Created in 2026, the Pink Blob Award is a continuation of that same desire to explore the unbeaten path. It encourages designers to look toward the future rather than repeat familiar formulas, and to embrace emotional connections rather than purely functional solutions.
Pink Cloud Cafe embraces this willingness to question what commercial spaces can become. Most importantly, however, it reflects a larger shift already taking place in the world of retail and hospitality: the transformation of spaces from places people simply visit into immersive environments where they can step into a story, engage their senses, and experience something that extends far beyond the product itself.
From the imaginative worlds of Disneyland to the interactive environments of places like the Museum of Ice Cream, visitors increasingly seek out spaces where the surroundings become part of the experience. These spaces offer storytelling, discovery, and emotional engagement as part of what people are purchasing.
For those familiar with our work, this approach will feel familiar. Our work has been driven by the belief that commercial spaces should not be empty shells or mere backdrops, but should communicate, trigger emotional responses, and influence behavior through color, visuals, storytelling, light, materials, scent, and branding.

What is Pink Cloud Cafe?
Pink Cloud Cafe is an immersive destination borrowed from a future we envision. In this near future, humanity has developed technologies capable of expanding perception beyond the limits of physical reality. Dreams can be navigated, memories shared, ideas experienced, and thoughts transformed into places that others can enter. Pink Cloud Cafe becomes one of the first public destinations where these possibilities are part of everyday life.
More than a cafe, it is a place where the boundary between reality and imagination begins to dissolve. This is not a conventional coffee shop with predictable interactions and familiar offerings. It is a living landscape of wonder, discovery, and adventure, inviting visitors to reconnect with their imagination, their emotions, and ultimately, with one another.
Within this world, emotions stop being a simple response to the environment and become part of what is being offered. Every order is also an emotional choice, whether that means curiosity, comfort, excitement, or nostalgia. Here, emotions are not only experienced, but explored, shared, and, in a sense, purchased.

Designing the Pink Cloud Cafe: The Cloud Concept
This immersive cafe design pursues an apparently impossible ambition: creating a place where the familiar meets the surreal. Inspired in part by dreamcore aesthetics, Pink Cloud Cafe embraces the hazy, dreamlike quality of spaces that seem to exist somewhere between memory, fantasy, and reality. Soft forms, floating elements, ethereal colors, and diffused light create an atmosphere that feels comforting rather than unsettling, inviting visitors into a world that is recognizable, yet seemingly impossible.
More than an aesthetic choice, this dreamlike quality becomes a speculative design exercise. It asks visitors to momentarily suspend disbelief and imagine that the impossible has quietly become ordinary, transforming an everyday cafe visit into an experience filled with curiosity and endless possibility.
The cloud concept seemed a fitting response to this vision. The entire architecture is designed to behave less like a traditional building and more like a living cloud. Just as a cloud has no rigid boundaries, the space dissolves the traditional separation between walls, ceiling, and atmosphere. Light flows like liquid, forms appear weightless, and colors shift subtly throughout the day, creating an environment that feels constantly alive and evolving.

The Arrival Cloud: Enter the Dream
Before visitors even step inside, the Pink Cloud Cafe announces its presence through a façade designed to spark curiosity and anticipation. The massive, unapologetically pink cloud becomes an unmistakable landmark, carrying the logo and tagline that invite passersby to dream of the possible.
Yet the Arrival Cloud does not create a barrier between the outside world and the experience within. Instead, the transparent glass façade dissolves the traditional separation between exterior and interior, offering a glimpse into the world beyond while revealing only enough to awaken curiosity. Like a dream itself, it remains partially visible, inviting visitors to step closer and discover what lies beyond.
It is here that reality begins to fade and the journey begins. Guests enter through this glowing cloud portal into a space where interactive floors transform into drifting clouds with every step, while luminous cloud formations above shimmer, sparkle, and shift colors, creating the sensation of walking through the sky.
The atmosphere unfolds through pearlescent finishes and a palette of soft lavender, blush pink, baby blue, peach, and lilac. Architectural elements take on organic, surreal qualities, with blobby columns forming unexpected compositions that appear almost like inflated structures frozen in motion. Modern furniture follows the same language: LED-integrated pieces are balanced by curved cloud-shaped seating, fluffy swivel lounge chairs, and rounded cloud-like tables.
The layout follows a simple tunnel-like progression, gently pulling visitors forward as if moving through an imagined world. Reflective surfaces, metallic accents, and suspended glass sphere lighting interact with one another, creating an environment where the floor and ceiling seem to respond in conversation. Light appears to exist everywhere, flowing from above, below, and even suspended within the space itself, extending the sense of wonder throughout the Arrival Cloud. The welcome desk and large digital menu screen provide the first functional touchpoint without interrupting the immersive experience.

The Cloud Lounge: Inhabit the Dream
Advancing deeper into the dream, visitors arrive at the Cloud Lounge, where the familiar rituals of a cafe are transformed into something extraordinary. The presence of a counter, servers, menu board, and seating areas provide a sense of recognition, but this familiarity ends there. Every element is reinterpreted through a futuristic and dreamlike lens.
The counter becomes a tactile experience, its faux-fur-covered front inviting touch and amplifying the softness of the floating cotton-candy-like cloud formations above. A massive digital board no longer presents simple products, but experiences waiting to be discovered. LED lighting highlights the sculptural qualities of the furniture and architectural structures, reflecting its glow onto the visitors themselves. Like the Arrival Cloud, the floor becomes an active source of light, featuring a luminous circuit-like pattern that guides movement through the space. The atmosphere is softly enveloped in ambient light, with illumination taking on an ethereal quality that feels almost weightless.
The private seating areas take the form of experience pods, creating intimate spaces where each visitor’s journey becomes personal. They use dynamic lighting, immersive sound, and interactive effects to transport guests into unique worlds inspired by their chosen experiences. Viewed from outside, the pods appear suspended and unreachable, almost like floating bubbles containing their own private realities.
A glowing interactive stage completes the lounge experience, combining costumes, lighting, music, and AI-generated effects to invite guests to perform, create unforgettable moments, and become active participants in the world of Pink Cloud Cafe.

The Experience Bar Towers: Taste the Dream
The undeniable focal point of the lounge is the Experience Bar Towers, where visitors choose their cloud experience rather than simply ordering a drink or dessert. Instead of a traditional transaction, guests select an immersive experience while robotic performers craft spectacular cloud-inspired creations through a theatrical live show.
The towers introduce a sense of vertical drama to the experience. Robots move up and down the sculptural structures like performers on a stage, while robotic arms simultaneously prepare and serve creations at counter height. The entire process transforms preparation into entertainment, turning the act of receiving a dessert or beverage into a moment of discovery.
The creations themselves continue the imaginative language of the cafe. Here, desserts become edible works of art, with sculptural forms, shimmering finishes, vibrant colors, and a playful Kawaii-inspired aesthetic. Cute, expressive, and almost fantastical, cloud-inspired treats appear like characters from another world, extending the fantasy beyond the architecture and into the experience itself.
Visitors also become creators in the Cloud Toppings Lab, where they can customize their desserts with playful toppings and edible sparkle, or allow a friendly robot to create a magical, one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

The Dream Boutique: Take the Dream Home
In the Dream Boutique, the imagined world of Pink Cloud Cafe becomes something visitors can carry with them. Flowing sculptural shelves ripple along the walls, showcasing exclusive merchandise, from fashion and accessories to collectibles inspired by the Pink Cloud experience. An interactive AI Mirror transforms the act of discovery into another immersive moment, allowing guests to virtually try on outfits in real time before choosing their favorite pieces. With a simple gesture, visitors can experiment with colors, mix and match styles, and discover their perfect look as if trying on possibilities from another reality.
Above, floating cloud installations suspend featured products as though they are drifting through the sky. The fluid geometry of the shelving gives way to an expansive celestial backdrop illuminated by a distant cosmic explosion. The floor continues the same luminous and fluid language found throughout the cafe, with colorful rivers of light flowing beneath the space. Rather than creating darkness, the deeper tones of the environment allow the illuminated elements to stand out, creating a surreal contrast that enhances the feeling of stepping into a world beyond reality.

Cloud Nine Restrooms: Refresh in the Clouds
Even the most functional moments of the journey remain part of the experience. The Cloud Nine Restrooms transform an often-overlooked destination into another immersive chapter, where floating cloud sculptures, luminous mirrors, and color-shifting finishes ensure the dream never fades. Rather than interrupting the experience, they extend the language of Pink Cloud Cafe into every corner of the space, proving that even the simplest moments can become memorable.
The Horizon Gate: Carry the Dream Forward
The final magical moment comes before departure. At the interactive Wish Wall, guests leave behind a personal wish, taking with them one last memory from the dream. A world of pastel fantasy, holographic finishes, rainbow reflections, translucent objects, iridescent materials, and dreamy sunset lighting slowly remains behind, yet the feeling of immersion continues to linger.
