Mixing bamboo, glass and concrete in exterior design

Bamboo has been a favorite material of LEED accredited professionals and environmentally conscious designers for quite a while. The most common application of bamboo is in flooring and decks. But did you know that you can use bamboo on walls, ceilings and the exterior of your building? In fact, bamboo exterior wall siding can improve a building’s facade with its natural look and excels in durability while looking warmer and more inviting than concrete or metal.

Choosing to work with bamboo siding is not only a nod to sustainable practices in exterior design. The beauty of bamboo is undeniable. There is a definite calming effect that the presence of this natural material has on the eye. In addition, it mixes well with other materials, helps them shine by contrast, and provides an excellent background for vegetation.

Bamboo siding can be used as a simple focal point in the design of a building facade, or serve as the main material for the entire building exterior. Depending on your preference, it can help you create a modern look inspired by mid-century design, or even a rustic one. The aesthetic versatility of bamboo allows you to obtain just the feel that you are going for.
