Back in 2022, for the first time in the history of the program, a new color was created in order to be crowned the 2022 Pantone Color of the Year. Perhaps it was a sign that, after two years of challenges, we were emerging with renewed confidence that we could recreate ourselves and our world.
Very Peri was coming from the blue family, known to inspire trust, calm and relaxation. However, its violet red undertones added to it a new dimension. There was something bubbling underneath this cover of serenity. A dynamic tint, a desire to create, and an appetite for the richness of life seemed all to be part of the equation.
The choice was telling for those times. We were trying to regain what we had lost and we were energized to make it happen. Today, the dynamic vibes of the color is still appealing to interior designers. So how can you bring this energy into your interior designs? Here are a few examples of how to incorporate this elusive tones into your creations, and a few completed projects that may inspire you to do it.
Lighting
If you are unsure or not ready for big changes, think lighting. This is our favorite way to update a space, since it has a dramatic impact on the overall look without breaking the bank. Since Very Peri is a rather hard-to-define color that moves between confident shades of blue and luxurios tones of violet, you can find its dynamic vibes in the undertones of both color families. Whether in a modern light pendant, a dreamy floral-inspired lightshade or a feathery chandelier with crystal accents, their rich presence is hard to go unnoticed.

Wall Treatments
For more dramatic changes, think walls. An easy way to capture the full vibes of the 2022 Pantone color of the year is to choose wallpaper that brings together all or part of its undertones. Patterns such as tie dye or swirls allow you to deconstruct it and play with its elements while achieving a grand effect. If you prefer just a touch of what this color has to offer, an elegant marbleized pattern allows you to bring it into your space in a more subtle way.

Tiles
Tiles are a wonderful way to create gorgeous settings that look solid, luxurious and well-thought. Blue and purple undertones are a winner when it comes to Moroccan-style tiles, and can bring you the contrast you need when combined with neutrals. Never underestimate the power of a cool zebra pattern, and never assume that a black-and-white combination is the only way to think about it.
For an elegant interior, a mosaic glass tile with blue and purple reflections is a beautiful choice that makes a space look grounded yet playful.

Furniture – and Karim Rashid’s Designs
For a moderate commitment to the 2022 Pantone color of the year, a few pieces of furniture can give you the rich color you want while allowing you to remain flexible in your designs. The Woopy and the Koop Easy Chair – the new Karim Rashid creations – caught our eye as excellent examples of combining creative shapes and tones into original pieces.

It is, however, Karim Rashid’s interior designs that show the power of blue and purple tones to create a spectacular ambiance and give an interior an out-of-this-world feel.

Our Designs
We already used Very Peri undertones for the interior of the Urban Bubble boba tea store that we designed. The store combines light wood tones that create a subtle background against which blue and purple establish themselves.
While we did use these strong shades for accent walls or soffits, we mostly relegated them to accent color roles. This way, the space remains fresh and airy while allowing the eye to indulge in just the right amount of color.
